Please contact me if you have any questions or comments about this site. I am very interested in hearing from people with new insights or any information relating to the early Manhattan oyster industry, oyster jars and all aspects of colonial shipping and trade.
If you have what you think might be an oyster jar and would like me to see it, please do not hesitate to send pictures. I am always willing to offer my opinion. I am especially interested in examples (whole or fragments) recovered in an archaeological context or by divers. There should be many more jars out there.
While I do collect these jars and would like to acquire new and different examples for my research collection, I am also interested in simply seeing and documenting any jars that exist in public and private collections.
If you are with an institution or municipality and have an interest in borrowing one or more jars for an educational exhibit, I am more than happy to loan examples (see Exhibit section). I am also very interested in helping to planning for future exhibits.
I am also very happy to give a lecture relating to the early Manhattan oyster industry and/or oyster jars. Its all about sharing and learning!
